Can I use international trains to countries outside Germany?

Your German Rail Pass is valid for domestic trains within Germany. In addition, your pass is valid to several stations across the border:

  • Basel (Switzerland)

  • Salzburg (Austria)

You can visit a selection of popular European cities outside of Germany with your German Rail Pass. Travel to the following cities is covered by the pass:

  • Innsbruck in Austria

  • Brussels in Belgium

  • Prague in the Czech Republic

  • Venice, Verona, Bologna and Bolzano in Italy

  • Krakow, Katowice and Wroclav in Poland

For all other international trains you need to buy a ticket for the part of the journey beyond the German border.
