Travel by bus from Germany to every corner of Europe

German Rail Pass holders are entitled to travel on the IC bus for free. You only need to make a reservation in advance. The IC bus travels on the following routes:

  • Berlin-Copenhagen

  • Berlin-Wroclaw-Krakow

  • Düsseldorf-Roermond-Brussels

  • Düsseldorf-Eindhoven-Antwerp-London

  • Frankfurt-Hahn Airport-Trier-Luxembourg

  • Munich-Ljubljana-Zagreb

  • Munich-Prague

  • Munich-Vinkovci

  • Strasbourg-Mannheim-Nuremberg-Prague

  • Stuttgart-Vukovar

 

You can make reservations at main stations in Germany; reservation fee: €4 (no class distinction). The bus stop is located at the front of each train station.

20% discount on river boats on the Rhine and Moselle

The German Rail Pass also entitles you to a 20% discount on travel on the river boats operated by the Köln-Düsseldorfer Rheinschiffahrt AG:

  • Between Cologne and Mainz on the Rhine

  • Between Koblenz and Cochem on the Moselle


This offer is not valid for boats with cabins or multi-day river cruises.

50% discount on steamer boats on the Lake Constance

The German Rail Pass entitles you to 50% discount on steamers on the Lake Constance (German: Bodensee).  This is one of Europe's biggest lakes, near the Alps. Lake Constance can be reached by train, for example by traveling from Munich or Stuttgart to Friedrichshafen.

 

The boats are operated by Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe (BSB) between April and mid-October. BSB has ticket offices in Konstanz, Friedrichshafen, Lindau, Überlingen and Meersburg.

20% discount on Romantic Road Coach

German Rail Pass holders get 20% discount on the regular fare on the ‘Romantic Road’ motorcoach route. It runs daily from April to October on the route:  Frankfurt am Main - Würzburg - Rothenburg ob der Tauber - Füssen (seasonal traffic April to October). Enjoy medieval towns, vineyards and the famous royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

10% discount on rack railways from Bayerische Zugspitzbahn

With the German Rail Pass you get 10% discount on the rack railway trains between Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Grainau - Zugspitzplatt. Spend a day on Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze (almost 3000 m).  On the Zugspitze Roundtrip, you get panoramic views over peaks in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and even Italy.  

 

These cogwheel trains are operated by Bayerische Zugspitzbahn. Garmisch-Partenkirchen  can be reached by train in less than 1.5 hours from Munich.

Free transport on the Shopping Express Bus

German Rail Pass holders are granted a free bus transfer on the exclusive "Shopping Express Bus" to Germany's Outlet Villages from Frankfurt Central Station to Wertheim, and from Munich Central Station to Ingolstadt.

A travel day must be filled out in your travel diary on the day you use this offer.

In the Wertheim Village and Ingolstadt Village, German Rail Pass holders will get a 10% VIP discount voucher upon presentation of a valid pass.

Discount on the ICE/TGV services from Germany to France

German Rail Pass holders are entitled to a special reduced fare on ICE and TGV high-speed trains to France. This fare includes the mandatory reservation.

10% discount on hotels and hostels in Czech Republic and Germany

German Rail Pass holders receive a 10% discount on the daily rate at A&O hotels and hostels. The discount applies to advance booking only. Bookings can be made on the A&O website or by phone (0049 30 80 947 5110). Make sure to mention the code 'rail pass' when making your reservation.
